Grab your sneakers and run with the crowd Sunday, May 27th, at The Hyannis Road Races. With three different races to choose from, the Johnny Kelly Half Marathon, Hyannis Half Marathon, and the Harwich Cranberry Harvest Half Marathon, there is room for everyone to compete! Or just come out and cheer on the racers as they cross the finish line.
In its 47th year, the Figawi Race on Cape Cod takes place every Memorial Day weekend. Recognized as one of the top sailing events in the world, this is the event you can’t miss! To kick off the event there will be a kickoff party at the Hyannis Yacht Club at 3 pm on Friday. Beginning at 10 am on Saturday, watch over 200 sailboats battle it out in this highly revered race. For prime viewing spots head out to Kalmus Beach, Orrin Keyes Beach, or Sea Street Beach, all just minutes from Hyannis Holiday Motel.
Starting late May into early June, colorful displays of Rhododendron flowers are at their peak viewing season at the Heritage Museum. Kicking off on Saturday, May 26th, this festival runs through June 3rd, providing plenty of time to see the beautiful flowers in bloom. Enjoy a tranquil walk amongst 100 different varieties of rhododendrons that encapsulate you. There are also a variety of activities for the entire family to enjoy including, pruning demonstrations and walking tours.
Running for the entire month of May, Cape Cod Maritime Days celebrate the Cape’s maritime history with numerous activities. What Memorial Day weekend would be complete without a trip to the beach? Luckily when visiting Cape Cod there are miles and miles of sandy beaches to choose from.
